Fairfield Country Day School, a school for boys in Kindergarten through grade 9, seeks applicants for the position of science teacher for grades 6-9. Candidates should have a passion for teaching, desire for collaboration and experience with middle school-aged children.
The successful candidate will possess excellent science skills, a high level of energy and flexibility and a growth-oriented mindset. She or he will be able to inspire and empower students to learn; collaborate and engage in daily conversations and experiences with students and colleagues; possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; and commit to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
Responsibilities
Teaches Grade 6 Earth Science & Grade 7 Life Science
Implement a science curriculum that integrates best practices in diversity, inclusivity, and differentiation.
Create a joyful, stimulating, and innovative environment for learning
Assess student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly; provide students with regular and timely feedback about their progress.
Integrate suitable use of technology as appropriate.
Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary and project-based learning curricular experiences.
Actively pursue professional development in the teaching of science and/or teaching in interdisciplinary project-based approaches.
Maintain strong communication with colleagues, families, and administration.
Assists athletic program by coaching teams
Serves as an Upper School (Grades 6–9) advisor
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and course work in related field; Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum 2-5 years of teaching experience
Creative, energetic, and positive approach to teaching
Experienced with creating an inclusive classroom community
Experience with student-centered teaching, project-based learning, interdisciplinary curriculum planning, and authentic measures of student learning
Experience integrating technology, including Google applications, laptop/iPads, ViewSonic boards, etc., into teaching practice to support learning and deepen projects
