The Summer & Enrichment Program Manager leads PCS’s year-round portfolio of programs beyond the core school day, including after-care, after-school enrichment, vacation and weekend programs, PCSummer, and specialty offerings developed with local artists, farmers, naturalists, makers, educators, and community partners.
This is a hands-on program leadership role. The Manager is responsible for program quality, day-to-day execution, staff coordination, family communication, and the systems that make programs run smoothly. The role also includes selected outreach and relationship-building across the North Fork and East End, with a focus on strengthening PCS’s programs and growing participation.
The Summer & Enrichment Programs Manager will oversee and help develop a portfolio that includes:
The PCS after-care program
After-school enrichment programs in the fall, winter, and spring
Vacation and weekend programs
PCSummer, an eight-week nature-centered summer program for children ages 3 through Grade 4
Specialty week-long programs such as Circus School, Pondkeepers Field Program, Explorers’ Survival Program, and new programs to be developed
Farm, forest, arts, movement, sports, STEM, and maker-based programming
Programs developed with local educators, artists, farmers, naturalists, makers, nonprofits, and other community partners
Responsibilities
Program Development & Leadership
Plan and manage PCS’s summer, after-school, vacation, weekend, and specialty programs.
Develop new program offerings in response to student interests, family needs, PCS priorities, and local resources in collaboration with the Head of School.
Work with educators and community experts to shape program goals, activities, schedules, and materials.
Work with the Head of School to evaluate programs after each session or season and use feedback to strengthen future offerings
Operations & Administration
Manage program calendars, daily schedules, enrollment, registration, payments, paperwork, supplies, and family communications.
Develop and monitor program budgets in coordination with school leadership.
Maintain clear systems, policies, and procedures that support safe, organized, and high-quality programs.
Coordinate spaces, materials, field experiences, transportation needs, and other program logistics.
Report regularly to school leadership on program enrollment, staffing, operations, strengths, and areas for improvement.
Staffing & Partnerships
Recruit, interview, hire, train, and support educators, counselors, junior counselors, interns, and community experts.
Oversee staff schedules, coverage, and performance.
Build and maintain relationships with local partners whose expertise can enrich PCS programming.
Foster a collaborative, purposeful team culture across programs.
Family Communication & Outreach
Serve as a warm, professional, and responsive point of contact for families.
Help grow awareness and enrollment for PCS summer and enrichment programs.
Represent PCS at selected fairs, festivals, farmers markets, and community gatherings.
Support communications and marketing related to summer and enrichment programs, including email, social media, and program materials.
3–5+ years of experience in education, camp leadership, youth programming, experiential education, or related program management.
Experience designing and leading programs for children.
Prior supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
Strong organizational and administrative skills, including comfort managing schedules, registrations, budgets, supplies, staffing, and communications.
Clear, warm, and professional communication with children, families, colleagues, staff, and community partners.
Familiarity with one or more relevant program areas, such as outdoor education, arts, movement, sports, STEM, farming/agriculture, nature-based learning, or experiential education.
Experience with nonprofit, independent school, camp, or community-based youth programming preferred.
Commitment to child safety, appropriate supervision, and clear program procedures.
Comfort with database tools, basic administrative software, and systems for registration, communication, and program management.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for community events and field programming.
Genuine interest in PCS’s educational approach and the ability to represent it clearly to families, staff, and partners.
