Position Description
The Middle School Math Small Group Instructor provides direct, differentiated math instruction to small groups of approximately 6–10 students in grades 6–8. Through evidence-based methodology aligned with Armstrong's mission, the instructor maximizes student strengths and promotes academic success for students with dyslexia and related learning differences.
Roles and Responsibilities Instructional Leadership
Provide direct, differentiated small group math instruction to middle school students
Identify, select, modify, and create instructional resources in collaboration with grade-level teammates and instructional coaches
Contribute to additional instructional programming as determined by division needs (e.g., advisory, electives)
Family Partnership & Communication
Conduct three parent-teacher conferences annually (fall intake, mid-year, and end-of-year)
Prepare comprehensive data-driven report cards each trimester
Communicate regularly with families to support student success and build strong home-school connections
Collaboration & Professional Practice
Work closely with grade-level teaching team, instructional coaches, division directors, and specialists
Participate in weekly planning meetings and professional learning communities
Engage in ongoing professional development related to math instruction and learning differences
Contribute to school-wide initiatives and community-building events
Student Support & Classroom Management
Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports student engagement and risk-taking in math
Support students' social-emotional development and self-advocacy skills
Implement individualized accommodations and interventions
Maintain trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to student learning and behavior
Education, Certifications, and Work Related Experience
Required
Bachelor’s Degree
Enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to teaching children with learning differences
Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
Preferred
Valid teaching credential
Two years or more of classroom teaching experience
Commitment to evidence-based structured literacy instruction

Competitive salaries commensurate with experience, ranging from $82,000-$120,000 annually
