We are looking for a dynamic and relational educational leader to serve as Director of Teaching, Learning & Innovation (TLI) at our Wentworth Campus. Our Junior school is a vibrant and future-focused learning community where innovation, belonging, and wellbeing are foundational. This is an opportunity to shape the academic direction of a thriving JK–7 campus while working alongside talented educators and engaged families in a highly collaborative environment. This a Permanent Full-Time position starting on August 24, 2026.
The Director of Teaching, Learning & Innovation is a key member of the Wentworth Campus Leadership Team as well as Collingwood’s Executive Leadership Team. Reporting to the Junior School Principal, this leader shapes and advances the academic vision of JK–7 while ensuring alignment with whole-school strategic priorities.
This role combines instructional leadership, curriculum oversight, faculty growth and coaching, innovation, and systems design. The Director of TLI works in close partnership with division and academic learning leaders, faculty growth coaches, campus administration, and the Senior School Director of TLI to ensure coherence, continuity, and excellence across the school. The ideal candidate will be a thoughtful, relational, and forward-thinking instructional leader who:

Responsibilities
1. Academic & Strategic Leadership
Provide strategic direction for the development and implementation of the Junior School Academic Vision.
Contribute to campus and whole-school strategic planning as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Ensure curriculum and pedagogy align with Collingwood’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
Collaborate with the Senior School Director TLI and campus leaders to ensure seamless JK–12 curriculum continuity.
Research and apply best practices in elementary and middle years education to inform innovation and growth.
Steward systems that translate high standards into meaningful student experiences.
2. Curriculum & Program Leadership
Oversee the development, documentation, and continuous refinement of the JK–7 academic program.
Lead curriculum mapping and ensure alignment with BC Ministry requirements and assessment frameworks.
Oversee assessment and reporting processes (JK–7 report cards, documentation, and systems).
Guide the integration of inquiry-based learning, experiential education, and innovative pedagogy.
Facilitate effective integration of educational technology in partnership with teacher leaders.
3. Faculty Growth & Professional Development
Lead and oversee faculty professional growth and performance management in partnership with the Junior School Principal.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and feedback to teachers and teacher leaders.
Support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of outstanding educators.
Oversee faculty mentoring structures (JK–7).
Develop and manage the campus Professional Development plan and budget.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
4. Teaching & Learning Excellence
Model high-quality teaching and instructional leadership.
Ensure quality assurance of teaching and learning across the campus.
Promote creative, rigorous, and research-informed instructional practices.
Cultivate classrooms that develop curious, critical thinkers who are resilient and socially conscious.
Support teachers in navigating complex conversations with students and families.
Communicate clearly with parents about academic programming and instructional approaches.
5. Systems, Standards & Operations
Oversee academic scheduling collaboration with Data Services and administrative teams.
Maintain and refine policies and procedures related to academic programming and Pro-D.
Monitor student achievement and academic systems to ensure continuous improvement.
Ensure alignment with Ministry curriculum guidelines and external requirements (e.g., FSAs).
Liaise with partner schools locally and globally to promote best practice and innovation.
6. Community & Campus Leadership
Maintain strong visibility and accessibility across campus.
Represent Wentworth at community events (Open Houses, Curriculum Nights, Parent Education sessions, student performances, etc.).
Serve as a trusted resource for faculty and Senior Leaders.

Required qualifications
Bachelor of Education
British Columbia Teacher Certification
10+ years of teaching experience (elementary or middle years preferred)
Minimum 7 years of educational leadership experience
Demonstrated success in coaching, supervising, and evaluating faculty
Strong knowledge of curriculum design, assessment practices, and school leadership
Experience working and/or leading in an Independent School setting
Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred qualifications and experiences
Master’s degree in Education or related field (preferred)
CAIS Leadership Institute experience (an asset)
