The Governor’s Academy, the oldest boarding school in New England, inspires and engages inquisitive students in grades 9 through 12. Our 456-acre campus is located thirty miles north of Boston and five miles south of Newburyport, a classic New England coastal town. Govs has approximately 400 students and 200 employees.

POSITION SUMMARY

This full-time, exempt Mathematics teaching position will have ongoing contact with and direct responsibility for the academic and social life of students on campus (in loco parentis) and will involve specific responsibilities, including coaching or other afternoon program involvement, residential life duty, and student advising. With Teaching Faculty status comes the expectation of total involvement in the lives of students on campus. Campus housing may or may not be available. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teaching: 
•  4 sections of Mathematics: Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, and our upper-level courses such as AP Calculus, Advanced Statistics, Computer Science, Linear Algebra, or Multivariable Calculus
• Afternoon Program: 
• 2 seasons of coaching or equivalent 
• Residential Life Program: 
• Dorm parenting or equivalent 
• Student Life: 
• Advisor after one year
• Weekend duties
• Must show a demonstrated interest in social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion work and have experience creating equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist spaces in their teaching.

B.A. in Mathematics, M.A. preferred; teaching experience preferred; experience in coaching and/or playing interscholastic athletics preferred; must be able to work collegially; must be committed to working in a diverse community and have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations; must enjoy working with young people in a boarding school environment; must hold a valid driver’s license; successful completion of a CORI/SORI and fingerprinting check. 

SALARY RANGE

$50,000 - $70,000 annually.  Please note that the quoted salary range is not a guarantee of the final salary offer. Variables include years of work experience, industry-specific experience, education level, etc.
